The Post Office
Candle Light Woodshop
Built by John Thomas Cave in 1868.

The Caves were a family of woodworkers in the late 1800s. In this shop, the Cave family built everything from beds to fiddles for the local community. As the family and the business grew, the addition on the right was added, sometime around 1880. A few years later Albert Cave and his father built a larger shop down the hill from this residence that has been converted into the local post office. My brother and I feel the atmosphere of the shop helps keep us connected to the family and woodworkers who once lived here. We have dedicated our shop to Albert Cave who was the longest living World War I veteran. He lived to be just three months shy of a century old. We enjoy his garden and his spirit, which is still very much alive.
